Both options can look excellent. Both have real tradeoffs. Here's the honest comparison so you can make the call that's right for your property.
Cost
Stamped concrete is typically 40–70% less expensive than pavers for a comparable surface. A 400 sq ft stamped concrete driveway might run $5,500–$9,000. The same area in pavers: $9,000–$16,000+, depending on paver type.
Maintenance
Stamped concrete needs resealing every 2–3 years. Individual sections can't be replaced if they crack. Pavers don't require sealing. Individual pavers can be replaced exactly. Weeds can grow between pavers without regular maintenance.
Durability in the Sandhills
In sandy Sandhills soil, pavers can shift slightly over time as the base settles. Concrete is one solid surface and won't shift — but will crack if the base moves significantly.
The Bottom Line
Budget constraint: stamped concrete. Longevity and repairability priority: pavers. HOA specifies one or the other: that answers the question. We pour stamped concrete and can refer you to a reputable paver installer if pavers are the better fit.
